SOLUTION 03 / 06
Compact / Package Substations
UP TO 2,500 kVA · 36 kV

One substation. Your specifications. Your preferred brands.
AdepaTrade supplies custom-configured compact / package substations up to 2,500 kVA, integrating medium-voltage switchgear rated up to 36 kV, a distribution transformer and custom-built low-voltage distribution within a purpose-built metal kiosk. Each unit is of the non-walk-in type, operated from outside through its compartment doors. It is assembled, interconnected and tested in the manufacturing partner’s factory and delivered as one complete substation, with equipment and major components selected according to project specifications and preferred manufacturers.
SUBSTATION COMPONENTS
Four components, one integrated unit
Three electrical systems are configured together to the project’s electrical design and installed in a metal kiosk built for them. Each is defined by the variables listed below.
SYSTEM 01 · MEDIUM VOLTAGE
SYSTEM 02 · TRANSFORMER
SYSTEM 03 · LOW VOLTAGE
ENCLOSING STRUCTURE · METAL KIOSK
Three electrical systems. One purpose-built metal kiosk. One complete substation.
Whether the equipment comes predominantly from one manufacturer or is combined across several, AdepaTrade coordinates the supply and factory integration of the complete substation.
Sourcing models, for example:
- Single-brand oriented: ABB ring main unit, Hitachi Energy transformer and a custom LV switchboard using predominantly ABB major components.
- Multi-manufacturer: Schneider Electric MV switchgear, MAKSAN transformer and a custom LV switchboard using ABB major components.
Examples only, not project references. Combining brands is not required; the project specification determines the manufacturers.
BENEFITS
Why a compact / package substation
Typical applications include utility distribution networks, renewable generation, industrial and commercial sites, and infrastructure such as ports, data centres and electric-vehicle charging.
Factory-integrated and tested
The MV switchgear, transformer and LV switchboard are assembled and interconnected in the manufacturing partner’s factory, with the applicable checks before dispatch.
Reduced on-site assembly
The substation arrives as one unit, so less equipment has to be assembled and interconnected on site.
Project-specific configuration
MV arrangement, transformer capacity, LV outgoing feeders and optional compensation follow the approved design.
Protected equipment, controlled access
Dedicated kiosk compartments control access to each system and protect the equipment against environmental exposure.
Designed for export
Planned from the design stage for international container shipment.
Flexible equipment selection
Equipment can come predominantly from one manufacturer or be combined across several.
SPECIFICATION
Project-specific technical configuration
These are the main points a requirement defines. Values are confirmed against the selected equipment for each project.
Parameter
What it means
Typical configuration
MV arrangement
MV panels and their functions: feeders, transformer protection and metering.
Ring main unit or another switchgear arrangement to the electrical design, rated up to 36 kV subject to the selected equipment. SCADA compatibility is optional where the equipment supports it.
Transformer
Rated capacity, voltage ratio, insulation and cooling, losses and impedance.
Up to 2,500 kVA; oil-filled or cast-resin. Larger distribution and power transformers are sourced as standalone equipment.
LV incomer and outgoing feeders
Main incoming breaker, busbar rating, and the number and ratings of outgoing circuits.
Custom LV switchboard to the approved component schedule.
Power factor correction
Optional reactive-power compensation in the LV switchboard.
Capacitor banks with switching and protection, sized to the requirement.
Metal kiosk
Enclosure construction, compartments, access and ventilation.
Standard construction: 2 mm painted galvanised-steel sheet enclosure on a 4 mm hot-dip galvanised-steel base. Dimensions, internal arrangement, doors, ventilation, cable entry and lifting provisions are configured per project.
Testing
The inspections and tests carried out before dispatch.
Equipment is tested by its manufacturers to its product standards: routine tests for MV switchgear (IEC 62271-200) and transformers (IEC 60076-1), and routine verification of the LV assembly (IEC 61439). The integrated substation then receives the factory inspections and checks defined for the project. Where IEC 62271-202 compliance is specified, the applicable type-test evidence is confirmed with the manufacturing partner.
Typical configurations are representative, not ratings of any single model, and are confirmed per project.
Designed for International Container Shipment
Each compact / package substation we supply is planned for international container shipment. Equipment arrangement, metal kiosk dimensions, structural construction and overall weight are considered by the manufacturing partners from the design stage to facilitate container loading and export delivery.
The final container type and loading arrangement are determined by the completed equipment dimensions and weight.
INTEGRATED PROJECT SUPPLY
Integrated. Factory-Assembled. Tested. Delivered as One Unit.
MV switchgear, transformer, LV switchboard and metal kiosk, coordinated into one integrated substation.
Internal assembly and interconnections are completed during factory integration, to the approved design. The applicable inspections and factory tests are carried out before dispatch.
APPROVED SPECIFICATION
The electrical specification and approved manufacturers are agreed before sourcing.
COORDINATED SOURCING
MV switchgear, transformer and LV components are sourced to the specification.
PARTNER MANUFACTURING
Panel-building partners build the LV switchboard; manufacturing partners fabricate the metal kiosk.
FACTORY INTEGRATION
The three systems are installed and interconnected in the kiosk.
INSPECTION AND TESTING
The applicable inspections and tests are carried out before dispatch.
DISPATCH
The substation is shipped as one unit, in the container arrangement confirmed for it.
Factory integration and testing by the manufacturing partners end at dispatch. Foundations, positioning, external network connections, earthing, installation and site commissioning are carried out by the project’s appointed contractors; factory testing does not replace site commissioning. On request, AdepaTrade can arrange on-site engineering supervision and commissioning support under a separate scope.
Access multiple manufacturers. Keep technical and commercial requirements connected.
